Black Widow Recurve Bows

Black Widow Recurve Bows

Black Widow bows were developed by award-winning archers, the Wilson brothers of Missouri. For over 50 years, the Black Widow company has made custom bows for both archery and hunting purposes. Based in Nixa, Missouri, their bows include take-down recurves, longbows, one-piece recurves, and short recurves; while their accessories include quivers, armguards, shooting guards, and shooting tabs.

How do you determine your draw weight?

The draw weight you need for your bow will depend on the individual archer. Factors like age, gender, body weight, and shooting purpose all factor into the decision. Black Widow bows that are lighter are most appropriate for children, smaller framed men, and small to medium framed women. Lighter bows can be used for archery competition shooting and field events. Heavier Black Widow bows are best for medium to large framed men and larger framed women. They can be used for hunting, particularly larger game.

What types of bows does Black Widow make?

The Black Widow company makes bows that range from short recurves to longbows. The following bows are available in Graybark, Greenleaf, Exotic, Ironwood, and Autumn Oak wood:

  • PMA, PSA, and PCH Take-down Recurve Bows
  • KB, PFT, and PA One-piece Recurve Bows
  • PSR Short Bows
  • PL Longbows

What accessories are needed for a Black Widow bow?

The accessories you need for your bow will depend on your preferences and how you will use the bow. You will likely need arrows and targets. Some archery accessories that may also be useful include a bow stringer, a nocking point, an arm guard, a sight, and a quiver for carrying your arrows.

What woods are available in Black Widow bows?

Black Widow offers custom wood like Camo, Cross Grain Graybark or Autumn Oak, Tiger Myrtle, Kingwood, and Honduras Rosewood. They also offer spliced veneers. See product description for specific details.

Which grip style should you get?

Grip style will depend on your personal preference. Black Widow offers a standard grip. You may also find an Asbell grip, a low-wrist grip, or a Toby grip on some models. The Asbell grip has a slightly larger swell at the palm and is available for the PMA, PSA, PCH, PTF, and PA models. The Toby grip is slightly fuller and more rounded than the standard grip. The Low-wrist grip can be used with longbows. Check the product description to determine which grip is on the bow.
