How are LGA 775 CPU processors installed into LGA775 sockets?

Follow these steps to install an LGA 775 processor into an LGA 775 socket:

  • Open the socket lever by pushing it down and then pulling it away from the socket, and then lift the lever up.
  • Lift up the load plate, being careful not to touch the socket pins on the motherboard underneath it.
  • Remove the protective cover from the load plate.
  • Remove the cover from the processor chip, holding it only by its edges. Do not touch the bottom of the processor.
  • Holding the LGA775 CPU with thumb and forefinger, align the notch in the chip to the notch in the socket. Lower it down into the socket without tilting or sliding it.
  • Close the load plate onto the LGA775 CPU and replace the socket lever to fix it in place.
  • Install the heat sink for the LGA775 CPU on top of the socket by pushing its four pins into the motherboard.
  • Locate the cooling fan's power connector on the motherboard and plug its power connection into it.
