Polycom RealPresence offers users a solution for video conferencing from desktop and mobile platforms as well as dedicated video and voice systems. Participants in the conference can view each other in HD video. Documents can be displayed as well. The Polycom Soundstation provides users with a voice-only conference phone system solution for medium-sized rooms (approximately up to ten people). The Polycom Soundstation IP5000 is for phone conferencing with smaller groups, IP6000 is for larger groups, and IP7000 is the highest quality in the series for voice and video transmission and is intended for top-management phone discussions. The Polycom Soundstation IP4000 has been superseded by the IP6000 and IP7000 Polycom phones.

In addition to operating over landline, Polycom Soundstation phones have Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and can operate over the internet via ethernet cable. When used as an IP phone, Soundstation utilizes Power over Ethernet (PoE) and so does not require a separate power supply when connected to the internet.

The Soundstation phone can interface with optional accessories such as additional microphones and loudspeakers that may be positioned around the room. Microphones can improve voice reception clarity and loudspeakers can improve hearing clarity for all participants in the room. The IP7000 can be connected to the Polycom HDX system to support video calls and conferences.

The Polycom Soundstation 2w is a wireless solution for users of call conferencing. The 'w' stands for wireless. The phone can be used in rooms with no landline phone capability. Since the Soundstation 2w phone is not connected to landline or ethernet power, it requires an independent power system. The phone battery has a standard 10-hour life. Polycom VVX phones are business media IP phones that offer a seamless communication experience as an advanced IP phone with teleconferencing and business applications.
