Step Stools

Step Stools

A single step, 2-step, or 3-step stool allows you to get an item that you cannot access while standing on your feet and lifting up with your arms. The stools are often used by a child who is too short to reach a sink or table, and they sometimes double as a small chair for a child sitting at a low kitchen table. Step stools may be designed like a piece of furniture that is kept out at all times, or the 2-step stools may be folded up and put away.

What are the features of step stools?

Step stools come with several different features. Here are some of them:

  • Anti-slip coating: Single step, 2-step, and 3-step stools may have an anti-slip coating on the stepping surface. This helps ensure that you do not slip and fall if the step gets wet or something oily or greasy spills on it.
  • Foot pads: Wood and steel stools that are used as kitchen furniture or for utilitarian needs often have foot pads on their legs. The foot pads prevent the legs of the stool from scratching the flooring or leaving scuff marks. The foot pads also help keep the stool steady and sturdy on a slightly uneven floor, such as ceramic tiles with grout between the tiles.
  • Locking mechanism: A locking mechanism on a folding stool helps ensure that the aluminum, steel, or wood folding mechanism of the stool does not close while you are standing on it. The locking mechanism makes the stool sturdier for an adult or a child to use.
What materials are step stools made from?

Step stools can be made out of several different materials, and you can choose the right one for you by deciding where and how youre going to use it. The materials are the following:

  • Aluminum and steel: Aluminum 2-step and 3-step stools are lightweight and easy to bring with you. Steel is often coated with white or another color of paint to prevent rust and corrosion. Stainless steel is often used in these folding step stools made of plastic or wood.
  • Plastic: Plastic step stools are well-known for being lightweight and portable. They may have a white or colorful finish and are often used in a bathroom or kitchen by a child or petite adult for accessing a sink or cabinet.
  • Engineered wood and hardwood: Engineered wood and hard woods such as oak may be used in a step stool that functions as furniture. Wooden step stools are often used as a step to access a closet shelf in a bedroom or to reach bookshelves in a living room or family room. A wood stool is a common accessory in a nursery or to use alongside of a rocking chair.
How do you clean a step stool?

Whether you use a step stool as a chair in the bar or as a kitchen chair, it is possible that something will get spilled on the stools surface. It is important to remove any spilled liquids from the step stool so that it is safe when you want to use it. Soak up any liquids from the step stool with a paper towel. Use mild dish detergent and water to remove oil or grease.
