Women's Human Hair Wigs

Women wear wigs for many reasons. Even celebrities have worn them, whether for a movie role or just as an easy way to temporarily change their hairstyle. Women’s human hair wigs come in a variety of colors, textures, and styles such as straight or curly.

What are wigs made of?

Wigs for women can be made out of a variety of materials. Wool, feathers, buffalo, and horse-hair have all been used to make different types of hairpieces. Synthetic materials have tried to mimic human hair as much as possible. Synthetic materials can be styled to be either straight, wavy, or curly. Once a synthetic hairpiece is styled, they generally stay in that style. A human hair wig can be styled or colored just as your own hair can.

What is Remy human hair?

The term Remy pertains to how the hair is gathered. It does not automatically denote higher quality, but simply indicates that there was a special process used to gather the tresses from the donor. The term Remy indicates that it came from a single donor and has been kept in a bundle with all of the cuticles flowing in the same direction. Often, this means it was gathered into a ponytail and then cut off. This makes styling much easier and minimizes tangling. They can come as straight, wavy, or curly just as other types.

How do women's wigs attach to your head?

Whether you have your own hair or not will determine how your wig will attach to your head. If you still have your own locks, special caps and combs can help you obtain a secure fit. Placing a hairpiece on a bald head may require an adhesive to ensure that it doesn't slip. If you have hair, you will want to pin it up securely before placing a wig cap over your head. The caps are adjustable to ensure a tight fit and so that none of your roots show. Wigs for bald heads can be used with or without a cap, depending on the comfort level of the wearer.

What does full lace and lace front mean?

These terms refer to how the wig is made and how it attaches to your head. Full lace means that the cap is constructed entirely of lace and the hair is knotted to this cap. Since the lace covers your entire head, you can part the hair anywhere without making it obvious that it is not your own. A lace front has a band of lace two to three inches just at the front of your head. It will then have clips or straps to help attach it. These can only be parted in the front.

How long does a wig last?

There are many factors that will help determine how long your women's wig will last. The material it is made of, whether it is full lace or lace front, and how often it is worn will all determine its lifespan. In general, synthetics can last between six months to a year, while a women's human hair wig can last a year or more.
